  1. Hi Katie, several years ago there was a push in California to make community college free to all.
    While it is not currently free, it is significantly cheaper than it is in other states. This situation creates less buy-in for students.Students drop classes regularly since they can chaeply enroll again the next semester.Classes start with 70 students enrolled and end with 25 or 30 enrolled..
    The 4 year college completion rate is higher partly because the more organized and motivated students get in, but also because students are more afraid of losing their tuition investment. 🙂 Heather
